Bali Immigration Deports Chinese Citizens Who Have Violated Residence Permits For 6 Years

Denpasar Immigration Detention Center deported Chinese citizens for violating residence permits in Denpasar, Bali, Wednesday (31/5/2023) ANTARA/HO-Kemenkumham Bali.

DENPASAR - Denpasar Immigration Detention Center, Bali deported a foreign national (WNA) from China who had violated his residence permit for almost six years since arriving in Indonesia in 2017 and had become homeless while in Bali.

Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of Bali Province, Anggiat Napitupulu, explained that the Chinese with the initials WR entered Indonesia via Soekarno Hatta International Airport, Tangerang, Banten.

The 35-year-old man's residence permit is only 30 days for a vacation in Bali, which when he entered Indonesia used a Visit Visa Free facility.

Currently, China is one of 92 countries that have a visaon arrival (VoA) facility or a visit visa upon arrival.

Meanwhile, based on the results of the examination of Immigration officers, he admitted that he wanted to seek asylum without clear reasons.

In his confession, WR lives in Bali alone and to meet his needs, he relies on savings that are currently running out.

He also admitted that his passport was lost in 2019 and from the results of the examination, WR never reported it to the authorities at the Chinese Consulate General in Denpasar.

WR also had a life inland and often traveled in the Bali Bomb Monument 1 area in the Legian area, Kuta, Badung Regency.

Given its existence which was considered disturbing, the public then reported WR to the Badung Satpol PP officers.

Anggiat explained that the Kuta Satpol PP officers then arrested WR and handed over to Immigration Ngurah Rai on January 18, 2021.

Considering that the deportation at that time could not be carried out, the Ngurah Rai Immigration Officer then handed over WR to the Denpasar Immigration Detention Center on January 20, 2021.

"After being noticed for two years and 4 months, we routinely provide counseling, a persuasive approach and after his parents came to Bali to pick up WR, he finally wanted to be sent back to his home country," Anggiat added.

WR then entered the deterrence and was deported to Nanjing, China boarded the Sriwijaya Air airline from Bali's Ngurah Rai International Airport with flight number SJ-1190 on Wednesday (31/5) at 09.25 WITA.

Based on records from the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of Bali Province, since January-May 2023 as many as 129 foreign nationals were deported from Bali.

Meanwhile, since the international door was reopened in Bali from May 2022 to December 2022, forced action to remove problematic foreigners from Indonesian territory reached 194 people.

The causes vary from violating residence permits, abusing residence permits, criminal acts to violating norms in Bali.
