JAKARTA - The number of COVID-19 deaths in Bandung City is below the national percentage, even though COVID-19 cases are increasing in the city.

This was conveyed by the Mayor of Bandung, Oded M Danial at the Pendopo of Bandung City, West Java, Friday, January 22.

"The percentage of deaths in Bandung has decreased to the level of 2.19 percent. This figure is still below the national level," said Oded.

Currently, he said, there are 168 people who have died with a confirmed COVID-19 status in Bandung City. According to him, there have been an additional 9 cases since the last week.

In addition, the number of cases of cure for COVID-19 has decreased to 76.40 percent. Meanwhile, at the beginning of the month or early this year, the cure rate was around 87 percent.

According to Oded, the decline in the cure rate was due to the increasing number of positive cases of COVID-19 which were accompanied by symptoms.

"The increasing number of confirmed positive cases that have symptoms is taking a longer time to heal," said Oded.

According to him, the factors that influence the increase in COVID-19 cases in Bandung are due to a number of factors.
