JAKARTA - The video of the Togutil tribe, East Halmahera, North Maluku, shooting at residents crossing the river went viral on social media.

"From the statement of the East Halmahera Police Chief, that the incident did not match the narrative in the news," said the Head of Public Relations of the North Maluku Police (Malut) Kombes Adip Rojikan confirmed by VOI, Friday, January 22.

Kombes Adip explained that residents who were crossing the river were not hunting. The residents actually brought aid.

"The interest of the people crossing the river is not to hunt but to deliver aid in the form of rice," he continued.

In the video, two people are seen crossing the river. On the opposite side, one person appears to be taking an arrow and shooting it at residents crossing the river.

The video was cut because the recorder behind the residents crossing the river was shocked by what happened.

"When the archery took place, there was nothing about the residents," continued Kombes Adip.
