NTB - The Department of Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUPR) of Mataram City has completed the installation of a visp or embankment safety at Ampenan Beach to prevent abrasion due to tidal waves.

With the installation of the script, the PUPR Service has completed three script installation locations starting in early April 2023.

In addition to Ampenan Beach, crypts have also been installed on Mapak Beach and Loang Baloq Beach.

"For the budget for the installation of this crypt, everything is the same, namely Rp. 200 million each so that the width and length of the crypt installed at each point is almost the same," he said.

According to him, the safety of the embankment in the form of installing large stones was then neatly arranged to prevent tidal waves from hitting the embankment which could have an impact on abrasion.

"Installation of this crypt is much easier and faster than the installation of ovals. In addition, the crypt is considered more effective in breaking the waves," he said.

Therefore, he continued, to anticipate the occurrence of tidal waves that occur every year, the installation of a 9 kilometer crypt in the Mataram City Beach area is considered necessary to become a long-term program and be carried out in stages according to regional budget capabilities.

"For now, we prioritize the installation of crypts in residential areas and tourist attractions to protect local government assets from the threat of abrasion," he said.

Meanwhile, the Mapak Indah Beach Area is a priority to install embankment safety using the crypt method because on December 25, 2022, around 29 families (KK) were affected by coastal abrasion and dozens of houses were swept away by tidal waves.

"Therefore, the city government must move quickly because there are still many houses behind the houses of residents who were swept away by the tidal waves that must be anticipated," he said.
