JAKARTA - President Recep Tayyip Erdogan ahead of the vote promised that as many as 85 million tough Turkish citizens would be winners in the second round of presidential elections.

"Everyone who has confidence in the national will, has a dream for our country and has a sense of belonging to this land will be the winner in the May 28 election," Erdogan said on the final day of the campaign in Istanbul on Saturday (27/5) ahead of the vote, as quoted by Antara.

"They, regardless of all provocations, do not interfere with voting, do not ignore the rule of law or legitimacy, and those who believe in changing civilian political forces, will be considered winners in this election regardless of the outcome," he added.

Turkey will hold a second round of vote to vote for president after no candidate reached a 50 percent threshold in the first round last week.

On May 14, the Erdogan People's Alliance won the majority in parliament.

While in the presidential election it headed to the second round because no candidate won a simple majority, or more than 50 percent, Erdogan took the lead by winning 49.52 percent of the vote.

In the second round of elections, Erdogan will compete with Kemal Kilicdaroglu, the main opposition leader of the Republican People's Party (CHP) and candidates from the six opposition parties of the Nation Alliance.

"We will win in such a way that all of Turkey with 85 million people will win. Our nation with all its colors will win, and our democracy, which we pay a heavy price, will win. Regardless of the political parties they support, all voters who show their will through legitimate means will win, "said Erdogan.

Erdogan said he believed that people who voted for opposition parties on May 14 such as the CHP, Democracy and Progress Party (DEVA), People's 'Democracy Party (HDP) and Good Party (IYI Party) would move to the People's Alliance on Sunday.

"We will invite them too, they are the children of the nation. I hope we will walk together," he added.
