The Regional Office of the Ministry of Religion of West Nusa Tenggara pays attention to cases of violence and sexual harassment against female students allegedly carried out by two leaders of Islamic boarding schools in East Lombok Regency.

Head of the NTB Ministry of Religion Regional Office, Zamroni Aziz, admitted that he had dispatched a team through the Ministry of Religion of East Lombok Regency.

From the results of the investigation from two Islamic boarding schools (ponpes) suspected of being places of sexual harassment, one has a permit and the other does not yet have a permit.

"For Islamic boarding schools in Sikur, there is a permit. Meanwhile, those in Kotaraja have not been registered at the Ministry of Religion," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, May 26.

Islamic boarding schools can operate if they have a kiai or teacher, there are students who live or stay overnight, there are formal educational institutions such as SMA, SMK, and MA.

"It was just said by the boarding school and it was a long process to be given permission. Yesterday there was one registered boarding school and the other there was no data. Just ask for operational permission from the East Lombok Ministry of Religion not to exist," said Zamroni Aziz explained.

Regarding the findings in the field, the Ministry of Religion will take action from the temporary suspension of the boarding school to the revocation of the permit.

"We will coordinate with the Indonesian Ministry of Religion because those who will temporarily revoke or temporarily stop the Indonesian Ministry of Religion. What is clear is that we work in accordance with the existing SOPs and regulations," he emphasized.

Zamroni apologized for the alleged sexual harassment that occurred in the Islamic boarding school in East Lombok. However, he emphasized that the act was carried out by an individual.

"We apologize on behalf of the Ministry of Religion. We have fostered as much as possible for the boarding school. Through the boarding school forum, KSPP and so on," he said accompanied by the Head of Religious Education and Islamic Religious Education (Pakis) of the NTB Ministry of Religion Regional Office Ali Fikri.

The East Lombok Police Satreskrim previously named two suspects for alleged sexual harassment of students with the initials LM (40) and HSN (50). The number of victims at the crime scene (TKP) Ponpes in Kotaraja Village is two people, while at the Sikur Village Islamic Boarding School there is one person.
