JAKARTA - The General Election Commission (KPU) of DKI Jakarta has asked the legislative candidate from the Crescent Star Party (PBB), Aldi Taher, to choose between registering as a member of the DPRD or DPR in the 2024 General Election.

"We ask the party that proposes it to clarify and later what party to choose from? Because it cannot be registered in two political parties," said KPU Commissioner for Election Implementation Technical Affairs, Nurdin, as reported by ANTARA, Friday, May 19.

This affirmation is related to the news that Aldi Taher has also registered as a candidate for the DPR with the Perindo Party.

So far, said Nurdin, his party has not provided direct confirmation to Aldi Taher.

His party will contact Aldi after the file verification process is complete on June 23, 2023.

His party also cannot confirm who else is the legislator at the DKI KPU who was caught registering with the DPR through a different party.

Previously, the United Nations proposed celebrity Aldi Taher to boxing promoter Asmara Roni as a legislative candidate (bacaleg) to compete for seats in the DKI Jakarta DPRD in the 2024 General Election.

"From the electoral district (election area) of Central Jakarta, there is Aldi Taher, it is Dewi Persik's ex-husband," said the chairman of the DKI Jakarta PBB Regional Leadership Council (DPW), Saeful when met at the DKI General Elections Commission (KPU) office, Saturday.

Saeful said Aldi Taher was one of several names proposed by the United Nations to compete in the DKI Jakarta DPRD.

Apart from Aldi Taher, Asmara Roni, who is known as a national boxing promoter, also joined the United Nations.
