Become A Debt Victim, Women And Their Children Are Confined In The House For 3 Days

JAKARTA - A woman and her child became victims of confinement in a house where she lived in Billy and Moon Housing, F1 Block, Pondok Kelapa Village, Duren Sawit District, East Jakarta.

The victim with the initials T has been in the house since last Sunday, May 14. It was later discovered that the house belonged to the late Dawam Rahardjo, an Indonesian economist.

Yan Helmi, Head of RT 04/10 Pondok Kelapa Village, said that on Sunday night he received a report from the RT secretary that the house was locked by an unknown person. The house belongs to a resident named Jauhari, Dawam Rahardjo's son.

"There are people here and small children. Just because I don't know the chronology yet, I asked people to supply food first. We save people first, right. On Monday I was only able to meet (through) telephone with the owner (of the house) Mr. Jauhari. This is the house of the late Dawam Rahardjo, this is this national hero. His son (named) Jauhari," Yan Helmi told VOI, Thursday, May 18.

Yan Helmi explained, according to information from Jauhari, Dawam Rahardjo's son, the forced demolition of the fence of the house began when Jauhari and someone named Gofar had a partnership involving money.

"It turned out that it didn't go according to plan, Gofar's side issued the money playing the lock, Sunday. I told Jauhari, if that's the case I opened the lock, yes. Jauhari told me, wait for Mas to summon me first. That was Monday. Then on Tuesday I didn't think. Yesterday (Wednesday) I just thought about it because we just opened it. Because we know this (in the house) there are people, there are my residents. I know there are people and small children aged 2 years, it's impossible for him to be locked up there all the time," he explained.

The head of the RT then told Jauhari to unlock the house's fence.

"Finally I told Jauhari, who owns the house. I wanted to open the lock, but I'm still reporting to the police. Because let's see how this is the realm of law. I reported to the police, I reported to the Babinsa, it turned out that Baharkam was here reporting to the Sector Police Chief. Yaudah when the police arrived, we also opened the lock," he said.

Yan Helmi explained that the perpetrators of forcibly locking the fence of the house without the permission of the head of the local RT as the regional administrator.

"He should have reported to the RT (when he locked). Inside the house, Ms. Tuti, that's what keeps this house. He worked here 15 years from before the late Dawam Rahardjo died. The house was empty, but the one who took care of Ms. Tuti and her child. Mr. Jauhari lives in the Kuningan area," he said.
