3 Malaysians Propose To Become Indonesian Citizens, Bengkulu Ministry Of Law And Human Rights Coordinates With Dukcapil

BENGKULU - The Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) Bengkulu received a request for the transfer of citizenship of three foreign nationals (WNA) Malaysia.

Acting Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights Bengkulu Hermansyah Siregar said the 3 Malaysian foreigners wanted to become Indonesian citizens (WNI). The three are Mohammad Khairul Azim, Norkhairul Nisa and Nurul Huda Atika. "We are an open country, there are three Malaysian foreigners who apply as Indonesian citizens and we have coordinated with Immigration, Police, Dukcapil and others by ensuring documents and verifying that every foreigner in the process of applying for Indonesian citizens can provide benefits to the Indonesian state," he said in Bengkulu City, Wednesday, May 10, confiscated by Antara. He said, the three Malaysian foreigners are currently undergoing an interview process in accordance with Law Number 12 of 2006 concerning Citizenship. Through this process, his party ensures that the person concerned really wants to become an Indonesian citizen of his own wishes, loving Indonesia and will benefit the Indonesian state. For the submission process it takes about three months until the oath of allegiance to the Republic of Indonesia. "Then for the process of applying for citizenship from foreigners to Indonesian citizens, this is the first time done by the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of Bengkulu," he said.

Meanwhile, one of the Malaysian foreigners who proposed to become an Indonesian citizen, Nurul Huda Atika, explained that he had been a Malaysian citizen since he was born. "I want to move as an Indonesian citizen because I feel more comfortable in Indonesia and I have lived in Indonesia for 10 years so that I have been used to the environment in Indonesia, I live in Indonesia with my mother who is originally Indonesian and the father of a Malaysian foreigner and live in Johor Baru Malaysia," he said.

Thus, he hopes that the citizenship process can run smoothly and he and his two siblings become Indonesian citizens.
