The formation of a group of members of the DPR or factions is intended to harmonize the interests of various council members.

The faction serves as a forum for members of political parties to equalize opinions from various aspirations in accordance with the main principles in making decisions in the constitution, namely the principle of deliberation and consensus.

According to Law Number 7 of 2009 concerning the People's Consultative Assembly, the House of Representatives, the Regional Representative Council, and the Regional House of Representatives, the faction is tasked with coordinating the activities of its members in order to optimize the efficiency and effectiveness of the members of the Council.
