Mayor Of Surabaya Asks Residents To Report To WAG Forkom RT/RW During Flood

Surabaya Mayor Eri Cahyadi asked his citizens to report to the WhatsApp Group of the RT, RW and Urban Community Empowerment Forum (LPMK) when there was flooding in the area.

"I ask all RT, RW, and LPMK to send photos when it rains into the WAG Forkom, I will see everything," said Eri Cahyadi in a written statement quoted by ANTARA, Monday, May 8.

Eri said the floods in Surabaya would not be able to be overcome if residents did not care about each other's environment.

Therefore, invite residents to work on community service to build a minimum channel of 60 cm, dispose of garbage in its place, and report through WAG Forkom RT, RW, and LPMK, if there are problems that cause flooding.

"I also appreciate the residents, thank you for providing the information, because if there was no information from the residents, I would never know (floods)," said Cak Eri.

Seperti banjir yang terjadi pada 28 April 2023, setelah hujan sangat deras di wilayah Surabaya selatan kampung di Kecamatan Sawahan dan Kecamatan Dukuh Pakis terendam air. Saat itu, warga ramai-ramai melaporkan melalui WAG Forkom hingga sosial media.

With this openness through the WAG Forkom, the Mayor of Surabaya has changed the Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD) which has partially been diverted to sub-district funds (dakel) and flood management.

With the change in the budget, Eri asked the village heads and sub-district heads to meet with RT and RW to collect data on public facilities in villages.

"So I ask the village head and sub-district head to record which villages do not have public street lighting (PJU) and those that are flooded, we have mapped it now. So that later something will be done using the 2023 tackle, something will be done in 2024," he said.

The Surabaya Walkot conveyed that the Changes in the Financial Budget (PAK) and Prioritizing the Changes in the Financial Budget (MPAK) had been submitted to the Surabaya City DPRD and approved to resolve problems in villages.

"In the 2023 budget, I forced it all, thank God I could. Without the WAG Forkom, I became closed and didn't dare to be open, I might not know if there were residents who suffered," he said.

Eri Cahyadi does not want in the future there will be another Development Plan Deliberation (Musrembang) in the kelurahan without any follow-up due to budget constraints.

This means, he continued, the city government must change and make a budget priority scale for the benefit of residents in the village using the village head.
