JAKARTA - Minister of Home Affairs Muhammad Tito Karnavian asked all regional heads to ensure that health services to the public are not disturbed by the national peace action plan of doctors and health workers regarding the rejection of the Draft Law (RUU) on Health.

"(Regional heads) ensure that health services to the community continue," Tito said, in an official letter regarding the anticipation of the national peaceful demonstration against the regional health bill, as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, May 8.

The letter addressed to governors and regents/mayors throughout Indonesia was signed by the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Suhajar Diantoro, on behalf of Tito dated May 6, 2023.

Furthermore, Tito also asked regional heads to appeal to the heads of the health office, directors of regional general hospitals (RSUD), heads of health centers, and health workers to maintain conduciveness and continue to prioritize services to the community.

Then, regional heads are also asked to instruct the head of the health office to coordinate and collaborate with the TNI and Polri to anticipate the vacancy of health services in regional health service facilities.

"Regional heads also need to open a dialogue space with representatives of health professional organizations and regional leadership communication forums (Forkopimda) in the context of conveying aspirations," said Tito.

Previously, the Executive Board of the Indonesian Doctors Association (PB-IDI), in a press release, Sunday (7/5) said that the peaceful demonstration would be held on Monday (8/5) by involving five professional organizations.

The organizations are the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI), the Indonesian National Nurses Association (PPNI), the Indonesian Midwives Association (IBI), the Indonesian Dental Association (PDGI), and the Indonesian Pharmacists Association (IAI).

The call for peace was intended to stop the government's discussion of the Omnibuslaw Health Bill.

"This peaceful action is a form of concern for health professional organizations to see the process of making regulations in a hurry and not paying attention to input from professional organizations that are not yet field workers," said Chairman of the Indonesian Doctors Association Executive Board Adib Khumaidi.

Even so, Adib guarantees that access to health services for the community is still well served in every region.
