CILACAP - The Cilacap City Police (Polresta) Traffic Unit appealed to vehicles from the direction of Pangandaran, West Java, and vice versa to avoid the Cukangleleus-Sidareja road section, Cilacap Regency, Central Java, due to subsidence and cracks at several points.

"The section of the provincial road that connects the Pansela (south coast) route collapsed last night," said Head of the Cilacap Police Traffic Unit, Kompol Nunung Farmadi, as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, May 6.

The road is an alternative route, but it should be avoided and his party has coordinated with the Cilacap Region Road Management Center (BPJ) to be handled immediately.

Vehicles that are advised to avoid roads are low-end vehicles such as sedans and the like because it is feared that they will not be able to pass through collapsed road points considering the average subsidence depth reaches 10 centimeters.

"The total length is approximately 100 meters, but it doesn't subside all, some points. Two-wheeled vehicles and high-bodied four-wheeled vehicles can still pass, but they have to go slowly," he said.

The police have ordered Satlantas Post officers in Sidareja and Wanareja to put an appeal so that road users avoid the Cukangleleus-Sidareja section.

According to Nunung, people from Pangandaran or Rawa Apu on the Pansela route who want to go to Wanareja, Majenang, and a number of areas on the southern route of Central Java can go through the Langensari-Mergo and Sidareja-Karangpucung alternative routes.

"Similarly, the opposite is that Majenang can also go through Mergo-Langensari or Banjar," said Kasatlantas.

Meanwhile, Cilacap Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) analyst Gatot Arief Widodo said the subsidence and cracked road points entered the Cilongkrang area, Wanareja District.

According to him, the rain and water sources on the side of the road caused the soil contour to become loose or unstable and easily eroded, so that the road collapsed

"Tergerus dan longsor (ambles) dari selatan dan di bawah alpal tergerus ke utara jadi turun, kemudian yang break adalah batas badan," ucapnya.

However, he said the road segment was not closed because it could still be passed and is currently being handled by the relevant agencies.
