BANTUL - The Regional Disaster Management Agency of Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region appealed to the public to be aware of sudden rain with heavy intensity accompanied by strong winds in the early transition season of May 2023. "If now it has entered the early transition of the dry season, or transitional season, this transitional season sudden rain with moderate intensity is still potentially occurring," said BPBD Bantul Aka Operations Control Center Commander Luk Firmansyah, quoted by ANTARA, May 2.In accordance with the weather forecast of the Yogyakarta Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), he said, on the basis of one month May 2023, Yogyakarta's territory including Bantul entered the transition season from rainy to dry season. He explained that during this transition season sometimes the weather is hot, but suddenly cloudy and rainy, as happened on Monday (1/5), heavy rain flushed parts of Bantul to impact on puddles. "So the rain in the transition season is unlike the rainy season, local rain in certain areas, not comprehensive. Of course, the community must be wary of, because this transition season is a characteristic of heavy rain, initially hot, cloudy afternoon heavy rain which is actually accompanied by strong winds and lightning," he said. He said. The public needs to be aware of the impacts caused such as puddles due to rain, strong winds that overthrow trees and buildings are not permanent, and other impacts.

"Like the puddles in yesterday's settlement on May 1, it's not like during the rainy season, floods usually occur during the peak of the rain, but yesterday in the transitional season, it was said that flooding was not like that, because it happened in certain areas," he said. Hery Sidik
