Workers In Palembang Demand The Government To Implement The Constitutional Court Decision No. 91

PALEMBANG - A worker in Palembang City, South Sumatra asked the government to implement the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK) No.91/PPU-XVIII/2020, which ordered the President and the DPR to make improvements to the Job Creation Law.

"The Constitutional Court's decision orders the President and the DPR to make improvements to the Job Creation Law, because the law is considered full of problems," said Head of the Federation of Trade Unions (FSB) Niaga, Informatics, Finance, Banking and Multi-Industry (Nikeuba) Palembang City Hermawan, after the 2023 International Labor Day peace action in Palembang, Monday.

According to him, thousands of workers who are members of the Nikeuba FSB and other labor organizations are trying to fight for these demands until they are met by the government and the DPR.

In addition to demanding the implementation of the Constitutional Court's decision, this regional worker also asked the government to revoke Law No.06 of 2023 concerning the stipulation of the Job Creation Perppu into Law.

Then ask that Permenaker No.05 of 2023 be revoked regarding the rules for cutting employee salaries by up to 25 percent because the discount is quite large and is very detrimental to workers.

"The action of workers to reject government policies that are considered not pro-workers is expected to receive attention from the government and people's representatives with pro-worker policies," said the chairman of the Nikeuba Labor Union Federation (FSB) Palembang.

Demonstrations on International Labor Day in Palembang City took place in front of the South Sumatra DPRD Building peacefully, safely, orderly, and smoothly.

To guard the demonstration of thousands of workers from a number of labor organizations in Palembang, the Palembang Polrestabes alerted 1,200 joint personnel.

Palembang Police Chief Kombes Pol. Haryo Sugihartono said joint personnel escorted workers who carried out mass deployments on labor day ranging from the location to the Kuto Besak Fort (BKB) to the South Sumatra DPRD Office.

"Our personnel together with relevant agency personnel and assistance from the South Sumatra Police Mobile Brigade (Brimob) are trying to guard the workers' actions to run safely and maintain security and public order (kamtibmas) to remain conducive," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, May 1.
