Respect Internal Mechanisms. Golkar Party Remains Consistent In Supporting Airlangga Hartarto As A Presidential Candidate

JAKARTA - The Golkar Party rejected the invitation from the United Development Party (PPP) to support Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo as a presidential candidate (candidate) in the 2024 Presidential Election.

Deputy Chairperson of the Golkar Party for Kominfo, Nurul Arifin, emphasized that his party already has a candidate to be promoted in the 2024 presidential election. According to him, the determination of the presidential candidate must be carried out through the party's internal mechanism, and Golkar has appointed the General Chairperson of Golkar, Airlangga Hartarto as the presidential candidate who will be promoted in the 2024 presidential election.

"It's not true that KIB will join PPP in supporting its presidential candidate. Please hope, but we from Golkar are clear with our positioning, namely Pak Airlangga Hartarto as a presidential candidate," said Nurul Arifin.

According to Nurul, Golkar's decision is final. He emphasized that his party will focus on carrying Airlangga Hartarto as a presidential candidate in the 2024 presidential election. "The attitude of mutual respect should be maintained. Politics requires consistency and commitment," added Nurul.

Saat ini pun Golkar masih tetap fokus menyosialisasikan Airlangga Hartarto sebagai capres kepada masyarakat, lewat berbagai media. Meski Golkar menolak perintaan PPP, namun Nurul menegaskan bahwa partainya tetap terbuka untuk bekerja sama dengan partai lain dalam rangka memenangkan Pilpres 2024.

"We remain open to collaborating with other parties in order to win the 2024 presidential election. However, the determination of the presidential candidate must go through an internal party or coalition mechanism that is carried out openly," said the member of the Golkar Party faction in the DPR RI.

Every political party has the right to make its own political choices and strategies. Despite the invitation made by PPP, Golkar has the right to vote and support presidential candidates who are considered the most appropriate for his party.

According to Nurul, Golkar's rejection of the PPP's invitation should be seen as part of a reasonable political dynamics in a democracy. Every political party has the right to determine its own political strategy, including in determining support for their respective presidential candidates," he explained.
