Makassar Polrestabes Raided The Factory For Making Sharp Weapon Bow

MAKASAR - Police raided a bow and arrow manufacturing factory on Pannampu Street, Cambaya District, Tallo, Makassar, South Sulawesi.

"The machetes, daggers, and especially bows and arrows that youths used to fight were confiscated. The evidence seized was one wind gun, four hundred (finished) arrows, and six hundred unfinished, if you count all of them there are a thousand," said Makassar City Police Chief (Kapolrestabes) Kombes Mokhamad Ngajib, as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, April 28.

During the raid, the police arrested one person with the initials A alias Arwan (20), a resident of Jalan Indah, Makassar City.

Apart from arrows and bows, one wind weapon and two broken wind guns were also secured as well as a long spear and tools used to make bows.

"This is the home industry which produces the biggest bow-type sharp weapon. This actor has been operating for about four months. Around 60 bows have been sold. One arrow sells for IDR 2,000 to IDR 5,000 around the location and Makassar City children," said Kapolrestabes.

As for the proceeds from the sale of the bow, the perpetrator reasoned that it was for the sake of life, even though the perpetrator's parents had warned him not to manufacture these weapons. For the sales system by word of mouth or person to person.

"Our perpetrators are subject to criminal penalties, for which we impose Article 2 paragraph 1 of the 1951 Emergency Law which carries a penalty of 10 years in prison," said the Kapolrestabes.

Meanwhile, suspect A admitted to making the weapon to buy cigarettes. He admitted that he was sorry and apologized to the people of Makassar for his actions which could result in people being injured and even dead.

"Making bows is just my side, sir. I regret and apologize to the public for what I did. I promise not to repeat it a second time," said the perpetrator during a press conference.
