Soaring COVID-19 In DKI, DPRD Speaker Asking Residents To Be Self-Awareness

JAKARTA - The chairman of the DKI DPRD, Prasetyo Edi Marsudi, asked the people of Jakarta to realize that neglect of health protocols has resulted in a surge in COVID-19 cases.

In fact, Jakarta has for one week implemented a period of implementing restrictions on community activities (PPKM) which is considered to be more stringent than the transitional PSBB policy.

However, over the past few days, the increase in new COVID-19 cases in DKI has reached over two thousand. Consecutively, the new cases in DKI from January 13 to 18 were 3476 cases, 3165 cases, 2,541 cases, 3,536 cases, 3,359 cases, and 2,361 cases.

Then, there have been 1,033 people who were found violating Operation Yustisi by not wearing masks. A total of 933 people received social work sanctions and 40 people paid fines.

"I ask the public to be aware of themselves. The term is, now follow the rules first because the problem cases are increasing," said Prasetio Edi when met at the City Hall of DKI, Central Jakarta, Monday, January 18.

The PPKM period in Jakarta will end even two weeks on 25 January. Prasetyo said, if the case has not sloped, it is likely that the PPKM period will be extended.

"On January 25, there was a decrease or not after this strict PSBB? If there is no decrease, we will extend it again because Jakarta is very central," said Prasetio.

Prasetio also regretted that there are still offices that do not comply with the limitation on the capacity of employees to work in offices to only 25 percent during the PPKM period. It is recorded that there are 4 companies that have received written warnings for capacity violations.

"Offices are also still naughty. Firm action is the violation. Because 25 percent of the office must be carried out. If not, COVID-19 continues to increase, eventually the community will suffer losses," he said.
