Triggering Chaos In Kupang, Sanctions Of Police And TNI Are Handed Over By Units

KUPANG - Polri and TNI institutions in Kupang City, East Nusa Tenggara, agreed that the legal process for the perpetrators of fights between TNI personnel and police officers in the jurisdiction of the NTT Police would be processed in their respective institutions.

"Later on, the investigation and investigation process will be submitted to each unit, and later each unit will take action and legal processes against its members involved," said NTT Police Chief Inspector General Johanis Asadoma as quoted on Thursday, April 20.

This was conveyed when holding a press conference by presenting representatives from three TNI institutions, including the TNI AD, TNI AU and TNI AL as well as the Mayor of Kupang at the NTT Regional Police.

He said that it was already a joint agreement to take action against personnel directly involved in the case.

However, he said, the process would certainly take a long time and it would take time for further investigations into the fight.

"We have collected a number of videos but have not been able to confirm who was involved in the case," said the former Head of the Police Hubinter Division.

According to him, during the arson, there were also TNI personnel but there were also people who were directly involved in the action, so they would investigate further.

Korem 161/Wira Sakti Chief of Staff Colonel Cpl Simon Petrus Kamlasi said that his party would process the law transparently for its members who were directly involved.

"The punishment will also be determined in accordance with the violations made by these individuals," he said.

Earlier on Thursday (20/4) at dawn at 01.00 WITA, a number of members of the TNI and Polda NTT were involved in a fight at Gor Oepoi in a futsal final match between the NTT Police team and the Team from So;e City, South Central Timor Regency (TTS).

The incident began when a supporters from the NTT Police team celebrated the victory by jumping onto the field, and were immediately reprimanded by the Indonesian Army POM officers in charge of maintaining the safety of the match.

The fight continued outside Gor, so the futsal final match was stopped at 23.30 WITA. The incident continued with the arson of TNI personnel against police vehicles destroying the Idul Fitri security post and burning motorbikes.
