KPK Asks Putra Rhoma Irama Rommy Syahrial To Fulfill Investigators' Calls

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has asked Rhoma Irama's son of sworddut, Rommy Syahrial to fulfill the investigator's summons to be examined as a witness in a case of suspected bribery related to infrastructure work at the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) in Banjar City, West Java.

Moreover, currently, the KPK has rescheduled and sent a summons for Rommy.

"We hope that the concerned cooperative will return according to the time specified in the witness summons, because this is an obligation and is willing to undergo examination as a witness," said Acting KPK spokesman Ali Fikri in a written statement to reporters, Monday, January 18.

Although he did not mention the latest schedule of summons, Ali emphasized that all witnesses who were summoned had to come even though Rommy felt that this call was inappropriate if it was directed at him.

"If the person concerned feels that someone is wrong, please explain it in the examination before the KPK investigating team," he said.

Ali emphasized that summoning someone as a witness was also not carried out arbitrarily. This is because someone who is summoned as a witness is deemed to have knowledge of a corruption case.

"We ensure that someone is summoned as a witness because of the need for investigation with the aim of making clear the series of actions of the suspects in this case," he said.

Previously reported, the KPK is currently investigating the alleged bribery related to infrastructure development in Banjar City. In addition, the anti-graft commission has yet to announce a suspect in this case.

In an effort to investigate this bribery case, the KPK has collected evidence, both witness testimony and conducted searches in a number of locations in the city of Banjar. One of the places that was searched was the Mayor of Banjar's pavilion.
