SEMARANG - Judge Kairul Saleh rejected the pretrial application submitted by the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) regarding the criminal handling of five police officers for the 2022 Police Officers' acceptance in the Central Java Regional Police.
Kairul Saleh, as the sole judge in the pretrial hearing, said the refusal was because the applicant was unable to show evidence of the letter number termination of the alleged corruption case.
The judge stated that MAKI's lawsuit was unacceptable. In their consideration, the judge said that the termination of the handling of a case began with a series of investigations.
The judge explained that the applicant in his lawsuit only attached proof of a letter in the form of printed online mass media containing news about the handling of the case of alleged prospective officer admission. In fact, according to the judge, every investigation must be made in the form of a letter.
"The Petitioner submits proof of a publication letter in the mass media. This is not in line with the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code," he said during a hearing at the Semarang District Court (PN), quoted from Antara, Monday, April 17.
Based on these considerations, the judge agreed with the respondent's answer which stated that the pretrial application was vague. Because the formal requirements in the lawsuit do not meet the requirements, the judge does not consider the subject matter.
Met after the trial, MAKI Utomo Kurniawan's attorney said that the head of the Central Java Regional Police as the defendant in this case had not yet carried out the police chief's instructions regarding criminal investigations into the case of police officers.
In fact, said Utomo, the alleged corruption incident has occurred since mid-2022.
Previously, five police officers suspected of accepting police officers at the Central Java Regional Police had been criminally processed. The handling of the case was carried out by the Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation of the Central Java Police.
The five police officers are Kompol AR, Kompol KN, AKP CS, Bripka Z, and Brigadier EW. They have been proven to have violated the Police Professional Code of Ethics.
Three police officers, namely Kompol AR, Kompol KN, and AKP CS, were sentenced to two years of demonstration; while the other two, namely Bripka Z and Brigadier EW, were sentenced to be placed in special places for 21 days and 31 days, respectively.
In their actions, the police officers allegedly received money collected from the parents of prospective non-commissioned officers with a total amount of Rp. 9 billion.
