KPK Still Checking Bandung Walkot Yana Mulyana, Bribery Allegedly Related To Smart City Program

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is still investigating the Mayor of Bandung, Yana Mulyana, along with eight other people after being caught in a hand arrest operation (OTT) on Friday, April 14. It is suspected that bribery has occurred related to the procurement of goods and services.

"Receiving gifts or promises made by state officials in the procurement of goods and services in the form of CCTV and Internet networks in the Smart City program in Bandung City," said KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri to reporters, Saturday, April 15.

Firli did not want to elaborate on the silent operation. The anti-corruption commission team is still working.

However, he emphasized that anyone who plays will be caught and dealt with. Firli even said that this warning had been conveyed before the regional head some time ago during a coordination meeting.

"During the coordination meeting with all regional heads, we must arrest the regional heads who are still corrupt," he said.

"It was proven today that the Mayor of Bandung YM was arrested following the Regent of Meranti," continued Firli.

As previously reported, nine people were arrested by the KPK during the silent operation. Apart from Yana, the team also arrested officials at the Bandung City Transportation Service.

The public is asked to be patient because the anti-corruption commission has 1x24 hours to determine the suspects and outline the construction of the alleged corruption that occurred during the arrest. The announcement will be made as well as a forced detention attempt.
