3,000 Cleaning Officers In Jakarta Alerted During Eid Holiday 2023

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Environment Agency has prepared 3,000 cleaners to work during the takbiran night until Lebaran 2023. Thousands of officers will clean public spaces in the capital city and mosques that will be used for Eid al-Fitr 1444 H prayers.

Apart from thousands of personnel, the Head of the DKI Jakarta Environmental Agency, Asep Kuswanto, also alerted hundreds of garbage trucks and 85 automatic road sweepers.

"We have prepared around 70 officers in each sub-district. More than 3,000 personnel throughout Jakarta on duty during the takbiran night until the D Idulfitri day. Including the Bantargebang TPST who continue to provide services during the Eid holiday," Asep said in his statement, Friday, April 14.

Asep revealed that the Environment Agency has also prepared personnel and facilities for handling waste at station and terminal locations as part of the appeal for the Homecoming Minimum Garbage program and large mosques in Jakarta.

Then, on D-4 Eid al-Fitr later, the sub-district environmental implementation unit and garbage truck drivers have also been instructed to empty temporary waste shelters (TPS) throughout Jakarta.

This strategy, said Asep, is carried out so that TPS can accommodate waste with maximum capacity during the D and D+1 Eid holidays. In addition, to keep the environmental conditions around the TPS comfortable, not strong, and avoid the development of flies and other disease vectors.

'Sad if more than 3 days of living in TPS has started to rot and makes the environment uncomfortable. We avoid that,' explained Asep.

On that occasion, Asep estimated, the peak tonnage for handling waste after Eid will occur on D+7, D+8, and D+9 Eid, after which it returns to the normal average.

Asep said the Environment Agency had anticipated the increase in tonnage. When the cart carpentry who participated in the homecoming returned to duty, the accumulation of piles of garbage that had been left in the trash in each resident's house began to be sent to the TPS.

"Based on the experience of previous years, we have anticipated this increase. D+7 to D+9 operations of waste transportation will be very optimal," said Asep.

Even the Bantargebang TPST where Jakarta waste is processed, said Asep, continues to operate 24 hours during holidays and leave with Eid al-Fitr 1444 H. A total of 250 personnel were assigned pickets at the Bantargebang TPST waste management site during the Eid holiday.
