YOGYAKARTA – The public is highlighting the profile of Chalid Said Salim, Main Director of Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI) as well as Managing Director of Pertamina Hulu Mahakam after he was expelled by Commission VII DPR RI. Chalid has been pursuing a career at Pertamina since 1990. During his journey, he has held several positions. Chalid was the General Manager of Pertamina EP Asset 4 and Pertamina EP Asset 5. After that, he served as Director of Operations and Production of PT Pertamina EP. After that, he was just appointed as President and Director of PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI).

The appointment of Chalid Said was carried out based on a circular Shareholders Decree regarding the Dismissal of the Directors, Changes in Position Nomenclature, and Appointments of Directors dated 13 June 2020.

For information, PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia is a subsidiary of PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE), an upstream sub-holding of PT Pertamina (Persero). PHI has a fairly good contribution in Pertamina's upstream sector, especially related to gas production and lifting.

Expulsion of Chalid Said Salim

As known. Chalid Said Salim came under the spotlight after he was expelled by Commission VII DPR RI during a hearing. The beginning of expulsion of Chalid Said began when a member of Commission VII Nasril Bahar asked for an explanation why the Director of PHM was not seen when Commission VII visited East Kalimantan.

"We asked for clarification on last month's incident when Commission VII made a specific visit to East Kalimantan. At that time there was Mr.

Nasrim also told that the members of Commission VII who were participants in the visit initially landed at 10.00 am. They waited for the presence of the Director of PHM until 20.00. Nasrim considered that the Diru PHM had an abscess without any notification.

"I think this is counter-parliamentary harassment. Whatever the name, there was no Commission VII award before PHM at that time," he continued.

Chalid later apologized for the incident. He also explained the reason for his absence during Commission VII's visit. He said that the reason for his absence was due to a meeting with the PHM Commissioner and a delegation from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) regarding the company's long-term plans.

An apology and confirmation from Chalid then led to the expulsion of the President Director of PHI from the meeting room.
