BANJARMASIN - Banjarmasin Police Chief Kombes Sabana Atmojo directly led the arrests of a number of youths and teenagers who carried out attacks and mistreatment of a resident during traditional activities to wake up sahur time.
"Within one 24 hours, the five perpetrators have been arrested, including the last perpetrator with the initials Y (15) tonight being picked up at his home in the Mining Village area," said Sabana while at the house of one of the perpetrators in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, quoted from Antara, Monday, April 10.
After the attack and mistreatment that injured a resident with the initials T on Jalan 9 November, Benua Anyar Village, East Banjarmasin District, Banjarmasin City, early Sunday morning, the police immediately moved to investigate and pursue the perpetrators.
A joint team from the Criminal Investigation Unit of the East Banjarmasin Police, assisted by the Banjarmasin Police Criminal Investigation Unit, initially arrested the perpetrators with the initials E (20) and I (19).
From the confession of the two, the police then arrested two other perpetrators with the initials J and F who were still minors, and finally picked up another perpetrator with the initials Y who was picked up at his house on Sunday night.
The five perpetrators who have been named as suspects are now being held at the East Banjarmasin Police and charged with Article 170 of the Criminal Code regarding the beating of junto Article 351 of the Criminal Code regarding persecution.
From the statements of the suspects, said the Police Chief, the attack began with an argument between the perpetrators and the victim during traditional activities to wake up the sahur around.
"So, these suspects toured the Banjar tradition, called the sahur, met the victim who was sitting on the side of the road until there was a beating. One of them was the perpetrator who carried a sharp weapon and then injured the victim," explained the Police Chief accompanied by the East Banjarmasin Police Chief, Kompol M. Taufiq Qurrahman.
Sabana said the alertness of the ranks of the Banjarmasin Police revealed that the persecution case was in line with the instructions of the South Kalimantan Police Chief Inspector General Pol Andi Rian R. Djajadi so that every criminal event was immediately made clear. This is so as not to cause turmoil in the community because the suspect is not caught or the handling is slow.
On the other hand, Sabana reminded people who carry out the tradition of waking the sahur to be conveyed in polite, kind, and polite ways.
