Badak Putih Children In Safari Park Have The Unique Name "Ramadani Good Friday"

BOGOR REGENCY - Badak Indonesia Foundation (Yabi) named the white African rhino calf "Ramadani Good Friday" which was born in Taman Safari Indonesia (TSI), Cisarua, Bogor Regency, West Java.

The origin of this name is because it was born during the month of Ramadan to coincide with the celebration of Good Friday on Friday, April 7, 2023.

"We name Ramadani Good Friday (King), because it was born in the holy month of Ramadan 2023 right during the celebration of Good Friday," said Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Indonesian Rhino Foundation (Yabi), Dodik Widjanarko while visiting the breeding of white rhinos at Taman Safari Indonesia (TSI), Saturday.

Ramadani Jumat Agung was born at 19.59 WIB, from a parent named Juma who is 20 years old and a male named Merdeka who is also 20 years old.

"This is big news for Indonesia because the rhino population in Indonesia is currently also in the category of extinction-prone. Then in the next three months there will be good news again, the Sumatran rhino in Way Kambas will be born again. Now its gestational age is almost near birth," said Dodik, quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, April 8.

He emphasized that Yabi is fully committed to supporting the Bogor Safari Park to continue to preserve the rhino ecosystem and population in Indonesia.

Head of the Indonesian Safari Park Animal Medical Section, Dr. Bongot Huaso Mulia in the same place, said that the Ramadani rhino content period on Good Friday was almost 16 months before birth and was born in good health.

The birth of Ramadani on Good Friday, he said, made the number of african white rhinos now six in Taman Safari Bogor.

One hour after birth immediately stood up and fed to his mother, Juma. This is an unusual condition. Smarter than his brother, Asyifa, who is now three years old, explained Dr. Bongot.

He said the process of adjusting and treating the children of Ramadani on Good Friday would be carried out under strict supervision and monitoring by the caretaker and the Bogor Safari Park medical team.

"We are on standby 24 hours to monitor its growth. The following is the provision of nutritious food and natural milk intake from the parent remains our main concern," he said.

Meanwhile, Yabi Chairman who is also the founder of Taman Safari Bogor, Jansens Manansang hopes that people's love for rhinos will continue to increase.

"We hope for full support from the government and the community to continue to support efforts to preserve rhinos, especially Sumatran rhinos and Javan rhinos," said Jansens.

According to him, the Bogor Safari Park continues to carry out various ways to preserve and protect the white rhino population.

"We have prepared several strategies other than natural marriages. We do this to continue to maintain the rhino population in the country so that our children and grandchildren can see how this rhino animal has passed down from generation to generation," he concluded.
