Eggs Become Jokowi's First Commodity Monitored At Rawamangun Market After Leaving Johar Baru Market

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) reviewed trading activities at Rawamangun Market, East Jakarta after missing a visit from Johar Baru Market, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, April 5.

The head of state checks the prices of a number of basic necessities ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1444 H. Jokowi checked the first commodity is eggs.

One of the egg traders at Rawamangun Market, Yudi reported to President Jokowi that the price of eggs is currently decreasing.

"(The president) asked the price of eggs. The price of eggs fell, between Rp. 28 thousand to Rp. 29 thousand per kg. So it fell by about two thousand," said Yudi, quoted from an official statement from the Press Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat, Wednesday, April 5, which was confiscated by Antara.

Yudi hopes that food prices can remain stable, so that trading activities in Rawamangun Market can return to normal.

According to him, consumer visits to Rawamangun Market are currently decreasing considerably, around 40-50 percent before the pandemic. He said the condition of many traders who survived should be grateful in the midst of the decline in community visits to the market.

Apart from eggs, President Jokowi also checks the price of meat in the market. According to one of the meat traders, Andi, the current price of meat tends to be normal. He admitted that he was grateful that the sale of meat in his stall during the month of Ramadan increased.

"Yes, it's a little bit, there's an increase, the term can run out 2 kg, 3 kg, thank God," he also said.

He hopes that the price of meat can remain stable in the range of IDR 140 thousand to IDR 160 thousand per kg and does not experience a high increase, so that meat can be reached by the public.

Also accompanying President Jokowi in the review were Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan, Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono, and East Jakarta Mayor M Anwar.
