In addition, Mount Semeru was recorded to have experienced two earthquake gusts with an amplitude of 7 to 9 mm for 65 to 69 seconds and three distant tectonic earthquakes with an amplitude of 3 to 27 mm for 40 to 100 seconds. The 3,676-meter-high volcano above sea level at the border of Lumajang Regency and Malang is still on Alert or Level III. The Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) asked residents not to carry out activities in the southeast sector along Besuk Kobokan as far as 13 km from the top of the mountain. Residents are also not allowed to carry out activities at a distance of 500 meters from the riverbank (river border) along Besuk Kobokan up to 17 km from the summit because the area has the potential to be affected by hot clouds and lava flows. "People on the slopes of Semeru are also advised not to move within a 5 km radius of the crater/peak of Mount Semeru because they are prone to the danger of throwing stones (pijar)," said Mukdas Sofian. In addition, he appealed to residents to be aware of the impact of hot clouds falling, lava avalanches, and lahars along the river that originates at the peak of Mount Semeru. "Especially along Besuk Kobokan, Besuk Bang, Besuk Kembar, and Besuk Sat," he said.

He added that the potential for lava flows in small rivers that are tributaries of Besuk Kobokan must also be watched out for.
