A Female Toddler In Banjarbaru Dies After Being Dragged Into A Ditch

JAKARTA - A 3-year-old girl named Fijah was killed in a flood in the city of Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan on Thursday, January 14.

"The victim was found in a ditch about 30 meters from his house on Jalan Sukamara, Landasan Ulin Utara Village, Liang Anggang District, Banjarbaru City," explained the Head of West Banjarbaru Police, Police Commissioner Andri Hutagalung.

According to witness testimony who was a resident around the victim initially playing in the yard of the house. In front of the house there is indeed a ditch and it is raining.

Then the parents and the community looked for victims and 30 minutes later they were found in a ditch.

"The victim's condition was found weak and taken to the Idaman Hospital and pronounced dead by the examining doctor," explained the police chief.

For this incident, Andri reminded parents to be vigilant and take care of their children. Especially in the rainy season, the flow of water in the ditch will certainly increase in volume.

A number of areas in Banjarbaru have been hit by floods since the last few days, where the worst areas are Landasan Ulin Selatan Village, Liang Anggang District, which is a cross-district road on the border of Banjarbaru City and Tanah Laut Regency.

A total of 142 houses from the four Rukun Tetangga (RT) were affected by the flood and the regency main road was inundated so that vehicles could not be passed.
