Cianjur Regent Allows ASN To Break Fast With Earthquake Survivors

JABAR - Cianjur Regent Herman Suherman allowed state civil servants (ASN) and officials in the Cianjur Regency Government to hold iftar with earthquake survivors in refugee camps.

A number of residents are still waiting for assistance to repair houses from the central government so they sleep in refugee camps.

"I gave permission while breaking the fast with survivors who still live in tents and emergency housing, so that they feel helped and get attention, not open together at hotels or restaurants," he said in Cianjur, West Java, Thursday, March 30, as reported by Antara.

According to him, the activity aims to ease the burden on earthquake survivors, who until now still need to be helped.

Herman also encouraged ASN and officials to hold sahur together with earthquake survivors, so that they would have no trouble getting food for sahur and breaking up even though the government had met their food needs.

"Opening and sahur can be done together with survivors, not luxuriously breaking the fast together in hotels or restaurants while earthquake victims fast in minimal conditions," said Herman.

Meanwhile, regarding the prohibition of President Joko Widodo, so that state officials do not open together as a form of simplicity, not luxurious, added Herman, supported by the Cianjur Regency Government which also issued a ban on all ASN in Cianjur.

"According to the direction of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, officials should not show a luxurious lifestyle or hedon, especially at this time, Cianjur is still grieving due to the earthquake, it is better for us to ease the burden on residents by holding activities during the fasting month at the earthquake site," he said.

As reported by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, prohibits officials from holding joint open activities to apply internally to the government, including ministers and heads of government institutions, while these regulations do not apply to residents.
