Police Target Alleged Corruption Cases Of Hundreds Of Billions In KONI West Papua

The Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation (Reskrimsus) of the West Papua Regional Police will expose the results of the calculation of state financial losses in the alleged corruption case of hundreds of billions of grant funds at the National Sports Committee (KONI) West Papua. West Papua Police Criminal Investigation Director, Police Commissioner Sonny Marisi Nugroho Tampubolon in Manokwari, Wednesday, said the team of investigators and experts were investigating the calculation of state money losses in 2019, 2020, and 2021. The total grant received by KONI from the West Papua Provincial Government for three years was Rp227.49 billion consisting of 2019 amounting to Rp60 billion, 2020 amounting to Rp99.9 billion, and 2021 as much as Rp67.5 billion. "Investigators and experts are still investigating the state losses. If there are results, I will expose it," said Sonny Marisi as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, March 29. The case, he said, became the attention of the West Papua Police Chief Inspector General Daniel Tahi Monang Silitongga so that it can be completed immediately. However, Sonny did not explain in detail the schedule regarding the results of the calculation of state losses that the investigators were still investigating. Police since December 2022 have not yet named a suspect in that case because they are waiting for the results of the calculation of state losses from the Indonesian Supreme Audit Agency (BPK). Previously, the West Papua Anti-corruption Community urged BPK to immediately finalize the calculation of state losses in the case of West Papua KONI.

"BPK must immediately expose the results of audits and calculate state money losses so that the public knows," said Markus Yenu, a member of the West Papua Anti-Corruption Community., especially the development of KONI.
