Search For Sriwijaya Air SJ-182 Today: Bad Weather Obstructs Finding Of The SAR Team

JAKARTA - Head of Basarnas Marshal Madya Bagus Puruhito said that the search for the joint SAR team today experienced bad weather problems. So that they did not find as many victims and pieces of Sriwijaya Air SJ 182 as yesterday.

In the data recorded at 19:40 WIB, there were 2 additional body bags containing parts of the victim's body. Then, the smaller aircraft debris increased by five, and the large aircraft debris increased by two.

Thus, the total findings of the SAR team until the fifth day were 141 body bags containing body parts, 31 small bags containing aircraft debris, and 28 large pieces of the plane.

"Although I think the weather is not supportive or not very supportive, on the sidelines of the weather which is sometimes good and not, we are still enthusiastic about carrying out search operations or SAR operations," said Bagus at the JICT II Integrated Command Post, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, Wednesday, January 13th.

Then, in the search for tomorrow, the SAR operation remains in the same area by widening the area for the search for the evacuation of victims as priority and the pieces of material from the plane.

"It is true that today's obstacle is the weather factor, hopefully tomorrow the weather will be more supportive and run smoothly in carrying out SAR operations," said Bagus.

Meanwhile, the search for a cockpit voice recorder (CVR) type black box that has not been found, the SAR team will reduce the search area. This is because, said Bagus, his party has mapped the possible areas where CVR is located.

"The joint SAR team will continue to carry out SAR operations tomorrow with enthusiasm, with priority on the evacuation of victims. Of course, CVR and other aircraft materials are no less important," he said.
