A Day Before Ramadan, Tanah Abang Bivak Karet TPU Is Crowded With Pilgrims

JAKARTA - A number of public cemeteries (TPU) in Jakarta began to be crowded with pilgrims ahead of the holy month of Ramadan 1444 Hijri.

They went to the TPU to read a prayer at the graves of their parents, family, relatives and friends.

Hundreds of residents visited the public cemetery area using four-wheeled vehicles, two-wheeled vehicles and other public transportation.

Head of the Central Jakarta City Parks and Forests Sub-department (Sudin), Mila Ananda, confirmed the increase in pilgrims ahead of Ramadan 2023 at a number of TPUs in Central Jakarta.

"The increase in pilgrims ahead of Ramadan has occurred since 2 weeks ago, especially on Saturdays and Sundays," Mila told VOI, Wednesday, March 22.

A number of visitors to the TPU made a funeral pilgrimage on the last day of entering the holy month of Ramadan which is predicted to fall on Thursday, March 23, tomorrow.

"Today, because of the red date, it is also still high (arrival arrival of pilgrims)," he said.
