In Accordance With Directions Of National Police Chief Sigit, Jambi Regional Police Tighten Supervision On The Import Of Used Clothing

JAMBI - The Jambi Regional Police (Polda) has tightened supervision of the business of importing used clothing or thrifting in Jambi Province.

Kasubdit I Indagsi Ditreskrimsus Polda Jambi AKBP Rivanda said, currently his party is coordinating with Jambi Customs and Excise to map sales of imported used clothing or thrifting in Jambi.

"We have monitored several markets. It's just that many are closed, we don't finish here, we will continue to monitor it," he said in Jambi, Antara, Tuesday, March 21.

Rivanda explained that the Jambi Regional Police would carry out inspections and supervision of the sale of imported used clothes according to directions from the National Police Chief, General Sigit.

The directive states that if during the investigation it is found that there is a practice of smuggling, the Police will not hesitate to take firm action against anyone.

In Jambi Province itself, there are several locations where imported or thrifting used clothing are sold in each City District, such as in Jambi City, there are in the Arizona area, Angso Duo Modern Market and Simpang Pulai Market.

Previously, the sale of imported used clothing from abroad, known as thrifting, became a hot topic of discussion and busy in the news, because the Central Government issued a policy prohibiting the sale of imported used clothing or thrifting.

Indonesian President Joko Widodo ordered the Police to take action against importers or suppliers of illegally imported or thrifting used clothing.

National Police Chief Gen. Police Listyo Sigit Prabowo has also ordered his staff to thoroughly investigate the alleged smuggling of imported used clothing to Indonesia which, according to him, has had a major impact on disrupting the domestic textile industry.

In Jambi Province itself, the sale of imported used clothing or thrifting is currently a business that is of interest to young people.
