Limited Fleet, Waste Transportation In West Sumatra Land Is Not Maximum

BATUSANGKAR - Constrained by a limited fleet and workers, the transportation of new waste reaches 25 of the 75 villages or villages in the Land Regency area, West Sumatra Province.

"That is also still limited to the Batusangkar City area, 15 traditional markets, and several strategic areas," said Head of the Tanah Datar Regency Public Housing and Settlement and Environment Office Nofi Hendri as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, March 21.

He said that the reach of waste transportation services was still limited because the available operational personnel and supporting facilities and infrastructure were still limited.

According to him, the agency still needs additional trash cans, garbage transport facilities, garbage pipelines, garbage banking machines, and organic waste processing support equipment to optimize waste management.

With limited resources, local governments are trying to reduce the emergence of waste by applying the circular economy concept in handling waste in Tanah Datar.

The Tanah Datar Regency Government encourages organic waste processing efforts to become compost, magazine cultivation, and economic-valued waste processing in waste banks.

"Currently Tanah Datar already has 14 Maggot cultivation groups, and already has 23 waste banks, however, because it costs less, only five units operate actively," said Nofi.
