Kapuas Hulu Regent: Let's Cooperate With Gotong Royong To Develop Agriculture

Kapuas Hulu - In order to realize national food security, Kapuas Hulu Regent Fransiskus Diaan invited all parties to work together to develop agricultural potential in his area, including West Kalimantan Province.

He also explained that the development of the agricultural sector plays a very important and strategic role in the development of the nation, because it can affect food security stability, political stability and economic growth.

"I ask all parties to work together, including farmer groups, communities, village governments and related agencies to develop sustainable agricultural potential," said Fransiskus Diaan, in Putussibau, Kapuas Hulu, as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, March 11.

He added, to realize national food security, the development of the Kapuas Hulu agricultural sector is carried out in a sustainable manner to increase production and business productivity, so that it can meet regional food needs, added value, and production surpluses to be marketed within and outside the region.

Fransiskus Diaan said that the need for food, especially rice in Kapuas Hulu Regency, is increasing, this is in line with the increasing population growth which has a direct impact on food consumption needs.

For this reason, he emphasized the development of agricultural potential in Kapuas Hulu which is in line with the central government's program, namely efforts to develop food crops such as rice, corn, soybeans, chilies, shallots, wood sweet potatoes, soybeans and green beans as well as vegetables and fruits must continue to be improved.

"I also ask the farmer group community to really take advantage of assistance from the government in order to develop agricultural potential in the hope of increasing agricultural production and productivity," he said.

Previously, Friday, March 9, Kapuas Hulu Regent Fransiskus Diaan also attended a rice harvest in Nanga Nyauu Village, North Putussibau District.

On that occasion, he appreciated the success of the community farmer group in Nanga Nyabau Village with a rice crop area of approximately 16.5 hectares and was able to carry out the main harvest in the hope that in the future the planting system could be doubled a year.
