Triggering Inter-Village Conflict, Mataram Municipal Government Anticipates Fireworks War During Ramadan

MATRAM - Reflecting on previous years, the City Government of Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara Province, began mapping areas prone to fireworks wars during Ramadan 1444 Hijriah, to anticipate potential disasters and conflicts between villages.

"We need to map the potential for this fireworks war to avoid unwanted things", said Mataram City Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) Head Irwan Rahadi quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, March 9.

The statement was made in response to potential disasters such as fires and inter-village conflicts caused by fireworks wars that always occur every year in several areas in the city of Mataram.

According to him, from experience in previous years, several areas with the potential for fireworks wars are Monjok Village, Dasan Agung, and Jalan Udayana.

"We will tighten supervision at these vulnerable points. In addition to patrolling, we also carry out surveillance at certain hours", he said.

In fact, he continued, the Satpol PP of Mataram City had collaborated with TNI/Polri officers to divide tasks at hours prone to fireworks wars, especially on weekends.

"The vulnerable hours are usually just before sunset or when breaking the fast, during the Tarawih prayer and after the dawn prayer", he said.

On the other hand, he continued, to anticipate the free sale of fireworks, raids would be carried out on several traders who indicated they did not have distribution permits for sales.

Distributors and retailers who do not have a permit will be disciplined by the provisions of the Regional Regulation on Public Peace and Order (Trantibum).

"Remember, permits for the sale of fireworks are issued with notes on size, variety, and for what purpose. If a celebration has been determined, it is not a problem, but what becomes a problem is if it is misused to disrupt public order", he said.
