JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is auctioning off goods belonging to former Penajem Paser Utara (PPU) Regent Abdul Gafur Mas'ud. This effort was made to recover state losses committed by the convicted bribery case.

"The KPK together and through the State Wealth and Auction Service Office Jakarta III will conduct a booty auction based on the decision of the Corruption Court at the Samarinda District Court with the convict Abdul Gafur Mas'ud and his friends," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri to reporters, Thursday, March 9.

Ali said there were two packages being auctioned. First, Hermes Fragrance-Eau perfume Des Merveilles and Zara size M clothes.

"It is auctioned with a limit value of IDR 1,897.000 and a security deposit of IDR 948,500," he said.

The second package is the Dior swab hat. This item is auctioned at a limit price of Rp. 8,640,000 and a security deposit of Rp. 4,320,000.

Interested people can access the website www.lelang.go.id because the activity is carried out via internet or closed bidding. The implementation will be carried out on Monday, March 13 and the deadline is until 10.30 WIB or server time.

Abdul Gafur Mas'ud was proven to have accepted bribes related to projects and permits in PPU Regency. The money he received reached Rp. 5.7 billion.

He received bribes from several companies and contractors which were later handed over through his trusted people. As a result of his actions, Abdul is now sentenced to 5 years and 6 months in prison.

In addition, he is also obliged to pay a fine of Rp. 300 million, subsidiary to 4 months in prison and hand over a replacement money of Rp. 5.7 billion. Later, after being free, his political rights will also be revoked for three years.
