BPBD: Dozens Of Houses In East Aceh Damaged By Tornadoes, No Casualties

The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of East Aceh Regency noted that dozens of houses in the Idi Rayeuk area, the local district, were damaged by a tornado. Head of BPBD East Aceh, Ashadi said the dozens of damaged houses were scattered in three villages in Idi Rayeuk District, namely Gampong Jawa, Gampong Tanjong, and Gampong Kuala. "The tornado hit the area on Wednesday at around 02.30 WIB. Based on data from officers in the field, 13 houses were damaged due to the disaster. Most of the houses were damaged on the roof. Most of the roofs of the houses were flown by strong winds," said Ashadi in East Aceh, Antara, Wednesday, March 1. Ashadi said there were no casualties in natural disasters. Likewise with the occupants of the house, no one fled. The affected victims were 13 families. The loss is estimated at tens of millions of rupiah. "We are also coordinating with other relevant agencies for further handling. This includes the distribution of panic periods after the disaster," Ashadi said. The damaged houses are six units in Gampong Java. One of them was heavily damaged, two were moderately damaged, and three houses were heavily damaged. Likewise in Gampong Tanjong, five houses were damaged by a tornado. Consisting of one house was heavily damaged, one house was slightly damaged, and three houses were moderately damaged. Meanwhile, in Gampong Kuala, two houses suffered minor damage. The building materials from the damaged house have been cleaned involving the community and local officials," Ashadi said. Meanwhile, Rahmat Hidayat, a social welfare worker in Idi Rayeuk Subdistrict, said that he had reported a tornado that damaged a number of residents' houses to the East Aceh District Social Service. "We have reported to the Social Service for further handling. Residents together with the TNI and Polri officers have also gone to the location to repair the house that had been hit by the tornado," said Rahmat Hidayat.
