JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) revealed that the practice of corruption at the Directorate General of Taxes occurred because there were parties who neglected to pay their obligations. From this, there emerged a bribery attempt to negotiate the amount that must be paid by taxpayers. "Actually, the tax issue is because taxpayers do not pay taxes. That is what encourages corruption tax officials," said KPK Deputy Chairman Alexander Marwata to reporters, Tuesday, February 28. "He should have paid 1,000, for example, but because he negotiated he just paid 500," he continued. Alexander said this negotiation mode is different from most corruption in the country by officials. Although there is no money from the APBN or APBD taken, this practice is still detrimental because state revenues are reduced. "Procurement of goods and services is marked up, etc., APBD, the grants are not true and others are the source of tax money that is corrupted by officials, state administrators," he said. "If the tax person is the corruption, the money has not been included in the APBD. That's what they are corrupt," added Alexander. Furthermore, all parties are asked by the KPK to pay their obligations accordingly. Do not let any negotiations in the dark room be carried out. "If the taxpayer pays what it is, there is no room for negotiations. There is no room for corruption at the Directorate General (Ditjen) of Taxes. It's like that," concluded Alexander.
