JAKARTA - Indonesian Presidential Candidate (Capres) Anies Baswedan said hoaxes are not needed in winning election contestation if they have confidence in the track record and ideas that can be assessed by the public.
This was conveyed when he gave a speech at the 2024 Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) Winning Alert Ceremony at the Madya Stadium, Bung Karno Gelora Complex (GBK), Jakarta.
"We don't need to make hoaxes. We don't need to make them up and we also don't need to overestimate achievement. Why? Because we are confident in track records. We are confident in the recording of our work. We are confident with our fellow ideas that exist so far," said Anies as quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, February 26.
Apart from not having to make hoaxes, Anies said that people who have confidence also do not need to launch attacks on other parties.
"People who are confident in what they have will not be provoked and will not shake hands with attacks and attempts to demean others," he said.
He then asked for messages not to launch hoaxes to be distributed in a polite manner, a spirit of embracing and inspiring.
This is because he assesses that Indonesian politics is a politics of justice and unity, which is able to unite over the diversity of existing tribes, languages and cultures.
Anies then made an analogy with the unity of Indonesia above this diversity, such as the components of hydrogen and oxygen that make up a new compound, namely water.
"Indonesia is the result of so many elements that exist in this nation and that unity is impossible without the presence of social justice," he said.
As for the politics of justice, he said, was the goal of the fifth principle of Pancasila, namely social justice for all Indonesian people.
"Adil itu bukan hanya negara melindungi minoritas dan bukan hanya mengakomosi mayoritas, tapi negara hadir dan melindungi semuanya," ucapnya.
Anies kemudian mengklaim rekam jejak kepemimpinan-nya sebagai Gubernur DKI Jakarta 2017-2022 berhasil membawa perubahan di ibu kota negara itu.
He said the principles of approach and development policies, as well as the management of the government that he had implemented in Jakarta so far could be an illustration or benchmark for what he would do in the future.
"Therefore, we often ask if we want to see what someone will do in the future, then look at his track record, because his track record is the best predictor for the future," he explained.
Present at the event were PKS President Ahmad Syaikhu and PKS Syura Council Chair Salim Segaf Al Jufri, Deputy Chairman of the Shura Council Ahmad Heryawan, PKS Secretary General Habib Aboe Bakar Allhabsy, and PKS Syuro Council Deputy Chairman Hidayat Nur Wahid (HNW).
The 2024 PKS Winning Alert Apple itself was held as a series of PKS 2023 National Working Meetings (Rakernas) which were held for 3 days, from Friday to Sunday (26/2).
