Observers Hope There Are Disabled HR In Each TPS In The 2024 Election

JAKARTA - Papuan Political Observer from Cenderawasih University (Uncen) Yakobus Murafer hopes that there will be human resources (HR) from people with disabilities or people with special needs at each polling station (TPS) in the 2024 General Election.

"This is important to do to make it easier for people with disabilities when they want to channel their voting rights," said Yakobus in Jayapura, quoted from Antara, Saturday, February 25.

According to him, the committee for updating voter data in Tanah Papua does not yet have the expertise to help people with disabilities, so it is necessary to pay attention to the organizers of the 2024 General Election.

He hopes that the KPU and Bawaslu can recruit officers who have special skills to be able to help people with disabilities, so that they are accommodated starting from voter registration to the time of determining the voter list for Pamilu 2024.

"That way, friends with disabilities can find out the extent of the democratic process and the stages that have been running in the Land of Papua," he said.

He explained that besides that, at the stage of socialization to people with disabilities, it is very important, especially the stages related to compiling voter lists, updating voter data so that it does not become a problem.

"Because the problem from year to year is still the same, namely the problem of the process of compiling a time-consuming voter list, so that as an academic, the KPU and Bawaslu must be proactive in providing information widely and openly to all people in the Land of Papua," he said.

He added that by preparing human resources for people with disabilities, including the form of supporting facilities, it makes it easier to make elections for those who have registered, so that their voices can be accommodated properly and correctly.
