According To Irwasda Of The Central Java Police, Taking A Vehicle By Force Is A Criminal Act, Residents Should Not Be Afraid To Fight The Debt Collector

SEMARANG – Residents of Semarang often face the problem of debt collectors who often forcefully take vehicles on the streets. In a meeting, the residents submitted their complaints to the Regional Supervisory Inspectorate (Irwasda) of Central Java Police, Kombes Drs. Lucky Sudarto.

Regarding this problem, Kombes Untung Sudarto asked the public not to be afraid to face it, and to have the courage to fight it.

“People must have the courage to fight. Because actually taking a motorbike by force is also a crime, “he said.

Kombes Untung emphasized that he invited the community to work together with Babinkamtibmas and Babinsa to eradicate debt collectors. However, he also warned not to take vigilante actions.

When asked about a criminal act for which there was a peace agreement, and whether the case could still be continued by the Police, on that occasion Irwasda emphasized that the case could still be followed up by the Police.

"Yes, because what we (Polri) are dealing with is a criminal case, not a civil one," he explained.

According to him, the peace agreement is an approach through restorative justice for two disputing parties. In this case, continued Kombes Untung, a criminal case.

"The peace agreement will later become the basis for public prosecutors in indicting and for judges in deciding cases so that both parties get a fair and beneficial law," he said.

In addition to the problem of debt collectors, Irwasda answered complaints from residents who often found rented houses or boarding houses which turned out to be hiding places for criminals.

Related to this, he invited the public to be more sensitive to residents in their surroundings.

According to him, Polri cannot be optimal in carrying out its duties without the participation and support of the community. Through the presence of Bhabinkamtibmas in the community, he hopes to create closeness between the Police and the community so that people are not afraid to report anything suspicious in their environment.

"Society has the courage to report in stages through the Babinkamtibmas in the village because I'm sure we are all close to Babinkamtibmas," he concluded.
