Governor Edy Require North Sumatra Medical Workers To Test PCR Swab Once In 2 Weeks

MEDAN - The Governor of North Sumatra (Gubsu) Edy Rahmayadi requires all doctors and medical personnel to do a throat swab / swab (PCR) test every two weeks.

"There is no reason because he is at the forefront, at the forefront of conducting investigations of our people," he said as quoted by Antara, Thursday, January 7.

He said the doctors and medical personnel who are required to carry out PCR examinations are on duty at hospitals and other health service facilities that are directly involved with COVID-19 patients.

"So it must be ensured that our health workers are healthy. Therefore, once every two weeks we are required to be swab," he said.

Governor Edy asked all leaders of each region to check the implementation and report the results of the examination to the provincial government.

"I ask gentlemen and officials in the regions, in my province I monitor and I always follow the development of all of our people," he said.

New Record Again for COVID-19 Cases

The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) releases the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 today. A total of 68,019 specimens were examined with the results of 9,321 new positive cases of COVID-19.

The addition of new positive cases of COVID-19 has set a record for new positive cases. Previously, the highest new cases per day occurred yesterday, namely January 6 with 8,854 cases.

"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia reached 797,723 people," he was quoted as saying from data from the Ministry of Health, Thursday, January 7.

Today's cases increased by 6,924 so that a total of 659,437 people recovered. Then, the positive confirmed cases who died increased by 224 people and a total of 23,520 people.

The province with the most new cases was in DKI Jakarta with 2,398 new cases and a total of 197,699 cases. DKI is the province with the most cases in Indonesia.

Followed by West Java which has 1,416 new cases with a total of 92,547 cases. Central Java has 998 new cases and a total of 88,566 cases. Then, East Java has 948 new cases and a total of 89,590 cases.
