South Sumatra Regional Police are hunting for three suspected cukong or financiers in illegal coal mining activities in Muara Enim Regency. The three suspected cukong are men with the initials CI, OK and RA.
Dirreskrimsus Polda Sumsel Kompol Agung Marlianto said the alleged cukong was known to be a resident of Muara Enim Regency and South Lampung Regency, Lampung Province.

Agung explained that the identities of the three suspected cukong suspects were revealed in the statements of the six suspects who were first arrested by Sub-Directorate IV Tipidter Ditreskrimsus personnel in Batu Kuning Village, OKU Regency, South Sumatra, last Wednesday afternoon.
To investigators, the six suspects each with the initials PHS (32), RK (32), AY (22) FS (28), DH (48) and EB (30) claimed to be drivers and truck conductors carrying illegal coal from illegal mines suspected of being operated by CI, OK and RA.
To carry out this task, the six suspects admitted that they were paid Rp500 – Rp5 million per one time for the delivery of coal from illegal mining in Muara Enim Regency to Lampung Province.
Currently, the suspects are being held in the detention room of the South Sumatra Police's Dittahti, Palembang, to undergo further investigation. "From these suspects, we are also investigating who the collectors are (illegal coal) so that this case is resolved," he added.
From the hands of the six suspects, the police confiscated 98 tons of coal from illegal mining, four units of Mitsubishi Fuso dump trucks, one sheet of travel documents from PT Mulia Indah Bersama.
The evidence of coal and dump trucks was entrusted by the police to cement companies in OKU Regency.
For his actions, the six suspects were charged with violating Article 161 of Law number 3 of 2020 concerning Mineral and Coal Mining.
