Attorney Speaks Up Regarding Wiranto's Move To PAN, Mentioning Zulhas' Party Is Happy

JAKARTA - The attorney for the Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Council (Wantimpres) General (Ret) Wiranto, Adi Warman, opened his voice about the news that the former general chairman of the Hanura Party joined the National Mandate Party (PAN).

Adi did not want to confirm that Wiranto had officially joined PAN. However, according to him, the party chaired by Zulkifli Hasan was happy with the news.

"God willing, we'll see. What is certain is that colleagues at PAN have published this and are happy," Adi told journalists, Monday, February 20.

Adi understands that the Hanura Party, which was formed by Wiranto, will surely feel the loss of its former chairman. Nevertheless, he ensured that Wiranto still wanted to contribute to advancing the nation and state through political parties.

"I understand that Mr. Wiranto as a soldier, of course, has the principle that service to the state does not stop when he retires. Calls for service to the nation and state can be made through political parties which he believes can make a major contribution to the progress of the nation and state," explained The Wantimpres Expert Team.

"But for all of that, we'll see it in the future," added Adi.

Previously, the news that Wiranto had joined PAN was revealed by PAN Deputy Chairperson Yandri Susanto, on Wednesday, February 15. He said that there was a former Chairman of a political party who would join PAN.

The figure's name, he said, would be announced by General Chairperson Zulkifli Hasan during the PAN National Coordination Meeting in Semarang on February 26, 2023.

"Yes, God willing, it will be announced at the National Coordination Meeting on February 26 in Semarang," said Yandri.

Yandri also gave a leak regarding the background of the former political party chairman who will join PAN. The deputy chairman of the MPR said that the figure was currently in government and was a retired officer.

"The former chairman, God willing, is true. Now he is in government, a former retired officer. (Later) Bang Zulhas (Zulkifli Hasan) will introduce him directly at the National Coordination Meeting," he said.

Meanwhile, the Secretary-General (Sekjen) of PAN Eddy Soeparno, admitted that he did not deny or justify this issue. According to him, the news will definitely be disclosed to the public in due time.

"I don't deny it, but Mr. Zul will convey the certainty," said Eddy at the 50th PPP Harlah event, South Tangerang, Friday, February 17.

However, he said, if the former Chairman is really going to join PAN then the position that will be given will not be arbitrary.

"I don't want to make assumptions, but a figure of his caliber will take a very respectable position," said Eddy.
