JAKARTA - The police smelled petrol at the location of the body of an unidentified man (Mr X) who died allegedly on fire in Ulujami, Pesanggrahan.

"After processing the crime scene (TKP) it was found that the smell of gasoline and Rp. 500 rupiah alone, nothing else," said South Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Budi Sartono as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, January 6.

Budi said that his party is still investigating whether the victim was burned or burned himself. From the results of the interim examination of the witnesses' testimony, the victim burned himself at the scene.

"But we will still explore it later from the results of the autopsy and crime scene processing and further examination of witnesses," said Budi.

Mr X or an unidentified man was found burnt to death in Gang Kramat, Jalan Muhajidin, Ulujami, Pesanggrahan, South Jakarta on Tuesday, January 5 evening.

The identity of the victim at the scene of the incident was not found, there were no specific characteristics of the victim that could be identified because it was burnt, only from the clothes worn, namely wearing blue jeans, black and blue sweater and a T-shirt with white stripes.

Currently the police have asked two eyewitness accounts and are still investigating the information to adjust the results of the investigation.

Budi said the investigation is still ongoing, the first is to reveal the identity of the victim. The victim's body has been taken to Fatmawati Hospital for further investigation.

"We are currently still carrying out investigations to ascertain who Mr X is, the team is still identifying to find out the identity of the victim, later we will carry out an autopsy as well, whether in Fatmawati or Kramatjati, for sure we must first know what cause he died, whether it was burned or because another thing, "said Budi.
