97 Flood Prone Points In West Jakarta Reported And Never Touched

JAKARTA A total of 97 flood locations were reported by residents to the West Jakarta City Government. Residents suggested to the local municipal government for the frequent flood management and never finished.

"Most of the development applications are under the Water Resources Sub-Department. Meanwhile, secondly, road repairs, bridges, sidewalks, and street lighting under the Highways Sub-Department," said the Head of Kembangan Sub-district, Joko Suparno, quoting Antara, Tuesday, February 14.

The number of development applications in the SDA Sub-Department is due to the large number of them in the Kembangan area which still often floods when it rains.

Several flood points were caused by inadequate waterways and large residential areas such as Pesanggrahan River.

One example of an area that is often hit by floods due to overflowing water times Pesanggrahan is the Haji Briti area, South Kembangan.

"Our settlements are in basin areas prone to inundation which are flanked twice, times Pesanggrahan and times Angke," said Joko.

Therefore, residents propose that 97 construction points in the SDA sector include repairing waterways, repairing drainage to making embankments along riverbanks adjacent to settlements.

Later, the 97 development points will be submitted again to the city to provincial level musrenbang. After it is approved, the proposal will only be realized in 2024.
