Many New Student Candidate Officials Go To The Unila Chancellor, KPK: This Is Our Concern Together

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is concerned that many officials have entrusted prospective new students to the Chancellor of the University of Lampung (Unila). In this case, the Unila Chancellor referred to as the defendant Karomani has been deactivated

Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri said the facts revealed at the trial should be the concern of all parties.

"We are all concerned, yes, it turns out that later the facts were revealed a lot," Ali told reporters at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Thursday, February 9.

"Many parties are suspected of giving and taking care of their children, relatives or anyone else to be able to go to college at Unila, and I think this is our common concern," he continued.

Ali said the confession presented by the witness was a trial fact. All statements will be recorded for analysis and can be used to develop the bribery case that ensnared Karomani.

"So that when there are allegations of legal facts, apart from of course those who have been named as suspects and in the trial process, the KPK will definitely develop them further," he said.

Previously, a number of state officials admitted to giving bribes to Karomani to include prospective students in Unila. One of them, Kombes Joko Sumarno.

During the trial, Joko admitted to giving Rp150 million to Karomani. The giving was made after his son entered the Faculty of Medicine, Unila.

"The money amounted to Rp150 million to donate to the construction of the meeting building," he said during a trial at the Tanjungkarang District Court (PN), Tuesday, February 7.

The money was delivered directly to Karomani's house after a month of announcing his son's receipt. "I made a donation spontaneously," said Joko.

"Because after graduating, Karomani contacted me and asked how he was and said that there was a meeting building construction, then I said I contributed," he concluded.
