Reported To Police, Chief Justice Of Constitutional Court Rejects To Comment

JAKARTA - The Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK) of the Republic of Indonesia Anwar Usman said he could not comment further regarding the nine judges including himself who were reported to the police.

"I cannot comment further on substance," said Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court Anwar Usman after the inauguration of members of the Honorary Council of the Constitutional Court in Jakarta, reported by ANTARA, Thursday, February 9.

However, he continued, every citizen has or has the right, one of which is to report the judge to the authorities.

Anwar Usman invites all parties, especially the mass media, to continue to follow the case reported by Zico Leonard Djagardo Simanjuntak.

Zico Leonard Djagardo Simanjuntak reported nine MK judges in relation to a case where there was an alleged change in the substance of the Decision Case Number 103/PUU-XX/2022 related to the judicial review of the Constitutional Court Law regarding the removal of Judge Aswanto.

Apart from this report, Anwar Usman said that the three newly appointed members of the Constitutional Court Honorary Council, namely Enny Nurbaningsih, I Dewa Gede Palguna, and Sudjito have started to carry out their duties and responsibilities regarding problems that occurred within the institution.

The Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court said he did not doubt the integrity of the three members of the Honorary Council of the Constitutional Court. However, in order to guard against suspicion, the three of them were sworn in.

"For example, if there is suspicion, then he was sworn in, even though he has often sworn in," he said.
